Thursday Prayer

It’s Thursday and you know what that means; today is our designated day of prayer. We will pray together today at 12 pm. If you are not able to physically make it to the prayer meeting location you can join us in spirit. We are praying that God’s will is done in the lives of his faithful servants and that millions will receive salvation this year. We will say a special prayer of wisdom, protection, and divine guidance for our leaders, law enforcers and medical providers. Also, let’s not forget to keep Haiti, Chile and China in our prayers in wake of their devastation's. In addition to your prayers please donate whatever you can to aid in their time of need.

We have several prayer requests for today. They are as follows: Manifested healing from recent surgery for Mrs. B. Press, Mrs. C. Simmons and Mrs. R. Riddle.

As always we will pray that many mothers will be blessed by this ministry and great works will be done through this ministry. We will continue to stand on our weekly prayer points listed below. It is so important that we stand together in prayer, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20).

We will continue to pray that love is the motivating force behind EVERYTHING that we do and that we operate in love at ALL times, especially when we don’t feel like it. For the word tells us, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8). The word also says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). If we can just learn to love always, no matter what, things will turn out well and happiness will be sure to follow.

Weekly prayer points are as follows…

Our family, friends and loved ones receive salvation and live lives that are submitted to the Lord.
We maintain health and strength in the midst of it all.
The hearts of men are being changed and turning towards the love of God.
Our children are always covered by the blood of Jesus and they make Godly decisions and live submitted lives.
We are continually filled with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus.
We are standing with all the mothers attached to this ministry and mothers worldwide that God’s will be done in their lives.
Thank you for standing with us and lifting up the prayer requests that have been laid before us. Remember to thank Him in advance. God bless you!

Scriptural focus for today's prayer meeting: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Mathew 5:16).

Until our next appointed meeting time. Stay tuned for more words of encouragement and inspiration for M.O.M.’s near and far! Word Wednesday

Today is officially “Word Wednesday” otherwise known as “Hump Day.” We’ve made it half way through yet another week on the wonderful, exciting and bumpy road of motherhood. Therefore, some of us are looking for some encouraging words to make it through the rest of the week with Joy and Peace. At night before my son goes to bed, in addition to reading bible stories, I read him a passage out of Prayers That Avail Much, First Blessings for Your Child by Germaine Copeland. Mommies we have to keep our children prayed up and constantly put Gods Word in their hearts.

Monday’s passage read, “May God give you insight so that you will know and be continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile, never wasted or to no purpose.” As believers, we all have moments in which we get “weary in well doing” as we labor in the Lord. This can sometimes cause us to want to give in or throw in the towel. Our “natural/carnal” nature comes to surface at times and we want to act on these fleshly thoughts and desires. This is of no surprise to our Heavenly Father. The Bible explains that we were born with a sinful nature in Psalm 51:5, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Although, the fact remains that we have these thoughts, but we don’t have to act on them.

The Word tells us that we can renew our strength in the Lord. “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31). This is actually one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds me that the Lord WILL continually renew my strength, no matter what I may be facing. The same goes for you as well. For those moments in which you get tired and frustrated in doing the labor of the Lord, you too can find strength in Isaiah 40:31.

Our children also need to know and understand that their strength is in the Lord. We can teach them certain scriptures to stand on, so that they can speak God’s Word over whatever they may be facing in life. I mean, the Word is our living water!

Buy the Shoes

What a lovely day in the neighborhood! I hope that each of you all had a wonderful weekend filled with happiness and peace. I did something a bit out of the ordinary for me on yesterday; I purchased not one but TWO pair of shoes! Now, for those of you that know me understand that purchasing just one pair of shoes is a true abnormality in my world.

I’m so focused on “Living like no one else, so later I can live like no one else,” that I hardly ever purchase anything for myself. My hubby gets on me all the time about this, but what can I say, I’m focused man! I am a strong believer in the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover (www.daveramsey.com), which is built on the precept of delayed pleasure. Currently my family is focused on becoming debt free which means a lot of delayed pleasure for us right about now.

So I went to the shoes store on yesterday looking for a pair of flats. In wake of my recent “back issue” I have to start wearing less high hills and more flat shoes :-( While at the store I came across the perfect flat shoe for everyday wear. There was just one problem; it came in 3 different colors! Considering that I don’t have many flat shoes for everyday wear, I felt the need to purchase two colors of this shoe. I went back and forth in my mind in an attempt to figure out if it was worth the cost associated. I decided to put the shoes on hold and go to several other stores to see if I could find a cheaper pair. After journeying to four discount shoe stores, I found absolutely nothing! Then I decided to go home and talk to my husband about it. He encouraged me to purchase the shoes and I actually went back and got both pair!

When I thought about this situation today, I began to correlate what I did with Pastor Joyce Meyer’s most recent book, Eat the Cookie, Buy the Shoes. In this book she expounds upon the importance of rewarding yourself from time to time. As mothers, we so often get caught up in caring for everyone else that we don’t take time to “eat the cookie” or we put ourselves on the biggest guilt trips about “buying the shoes.” Unfortunately, in the midst of this lack of self reward we live less fulfilled lives.

I’m happy to say that I have no regrets for “buying the shoes” on yesterday and I will wear them with a big smile on my face. Although let’s not loose sight that in the midst of these material rewards, we are working towards our ultimate spiritual rewards, and our lives should reflect such. “Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:31).

Disclaimer: This message is not an excuse for us to over-indulge; it’s simply stressing the importance of self-reward for those that hardly ever partake thereof.

Feature Friday

Congratulations, you made it through another week in the life of a Saved M.O.M.! Here at Savedmom.com we take time out on Fridays to feature Saved M.O.M.’s. There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. As most of you know yesterday was Earth Day and April is Earth Month, therefore, I would like to do things just a little bit differently. Today we will feature our very own, Mother Earth! Mother Earth has been around for thousands of years and has nourished us in so many ways. Yet many of us take her for granted.

People don’t realize the importance of taking the necessary precautions to take care of our Mother Earth. Going green doesn’t have to be the huge and impossible feat. You can make small changes now that can make a difference for years to come. I started with small things like recycling and driving less. Now not only do I do those things, but I also use all natural cleaning products in my home, compost all veggie and fruit remains, use cloth diapers, take reusable bags when shopping, purchase groceries from a local co-op and practice energy efficient methods at home, just to name a few. That may seem overwhelming at first, but once you start, it will become like second nature after a while. As a matter of fact, the few times that I forgot my reusable bags when going shopping, I almost lost it!

When it’s all said and done, this Earth belongs to our spiritual Father and we should do our part to care for it. “The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” (Psalm 24:1). So let’s take time to go green, our future depends on it!

Monday’s passage read, “Lie down in peace this evening, dear child, because our dwelling place is secure. You can rest; you are secure in God. God has shielded you all day long. You can look about and rest in hope.” After reading this scripture I thought about a message that I recently heard Pastor Joyce Meyer ministering on. She was talking about being in the rest of God and letting your soul go on vacation. In this message she wanted to convey to the audience that in the midst of trials and stressful times you should give your situation over to God and let your soul take a vacation. When your soul is on vacation you don’t worry or stress over what you see in the natural, but you allow your soul to rest while God fights the battle for you.

It’s quite evident by the fact that so many stress-induced diseases and illnesses are killing and affecting God’s children daily, that we aren’t letting our souls go on vacation. We aren’t REALLY giving the “issues” over to God, but we need to. The Lord our God is our shield, therefore, we can always rest securely in Him. “About Benjamin he said: "Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders."” (Deuteronomy 33:12). So the next time you feel stress creeping up on you, stop and take a much needed “soul vacation” and let God bring you out in victory!

Back and Better

My, oh my, did I miss you all last week. I had a few health challenges, but we won’t dwell on the negative. Today I feel absolutely wonderful and I know that this week is going to be full of joy and peace!

I wanted to take a few moments today to share some food for thought. I took some time to look over a very famous passage in the Bible this morning, Psalm 23. Going through and coming out of a test/trial really makes you appreciate the words written in this chapter of the Good Book. To refresh your memory, it reads as follows… “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

As children of the Most High God, we have nothing to worry, fret or fear about. We can find comfort in knowing that He will restore our souls and our cups are running over. Be afraid of nothing or no one and know who you really are in Christ Jesus. His word is your medicine and your sustenance. We are winners and we can do ALL things through Christ. So, the next time you find yourself afraid or in a low place, speak Psalm 23 and watch things turn around in your favor!

Life Lesson

Happy Monday to each and every one of you! Sometimes I sit and wonder, “Where does the time go?” I mean it’s already the middle of April in the year 2010! Wow, is it just me or does time seem to fly by faster and faster every year?

Today I would like to take a few moments to reflect on my acts of disobedience. I have to be transparent and admit that I made bad choices and decisions over the weekend and had to suffer the consequences thereof. Okay, so it all started when I woke up in excruciating pain at 5 am on Friday morning. I’m talking serious pain. Labor was a breeze compared to this! At first I couldn’t figure out if it was my bladder, my kidneys or a back issue. After consulting with my chiropractor and remembering a back spasm that occurred the previous night, I realized that it was definitely a back issue. I received sound medical counsel and started to immediately do as I was told to ease and eventually end the pain.

Of course, being the go-getter that I am, I didn’t want this “set back” to interfere with my weekend plans. Everyone told me to take it easy for the rest of the weekend and to cancel all plans. Well, after much deliberation, I decided to reluctantly cancel my plans and stay in bed. Then midway through Saturday I thought to myself, “Self, you feel fine, no need to lie around all day, you should get out and enjoy the sun.” Yeah, I know, pretty dumb move. So I packed up the babies and headed out to visit a few family members. I figured that since I would be sitting down during the visits, it would be okay. There I go, trying to rationalize my faulty decision making-process.

As you could have guessed, two hours into the “outing” the pain started to creep back up and before I knew it I was limping all over again! Needless, to say, I took it easy for the remainder of the weekend. This situation just goes to show how important wise counsel and obedience really are. However, in most instances of disobedience you will learn obedience through your suffering, as Jesus did. “Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered.” (Hebrews 5:8).

My mother and grandmother always said, “A hard head makes a soft behind!” Hopefully, next time I consider the suffering and choose to actually listen to the wise counsel that I seek. Until our next appointed meeting time. Stay tuned for more words of encouragement and inspiration for M.O.M.’s near and far! Feature Friday

Congratulations, you made it through another week in the life of a Saved M.O.M.! Here at Savedmom.com we take time out on Fridays to feature Saved M.O.M.’s. There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. I am delighted to say that this Feature Friday post is dedicated to Donna R. Westbrook. Donna currently resides in Atlanta, GA. She is a beautiful, devoted wife and mother of two adult sons. Donna is a Realtor at Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers in Douglasville, GA. When asked what her passion is she stated, “My passion is helping and working with children. Their education, safety, overall health and happiness have always been my concern.”

Donna came to know the Lord at an early age, which has helped her get through many trials. She explained, “Being brought up in the church, the love and reverence for God has always been a part of my life. The relationship grew stronger as I grew older. Through the loss of loved ones, challenges of life, marriage, career, raising children and blessing after blessing I learned how much God truly loves me and how much I depend on Him.”

When asked what being a Saved M.O.M. means to her, Donna said, “Trying to make sure that I live my life according to His will. I have an obligation to pass on the knowledge that you can trust in God, believe that there is a plan for your life, that we have gifts to be used for a purpose, to understand and be grateful for grace, and to be thankful for all things.” Donna’s favorite scripture is Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”

Donna wanted to leave these words with all of our mothers, “The greatest gifts we can give to our children are love, guidance, discipline and our time. We have the ability to build them up or tear them down and in the end we will be held accountable.”

If you would like to speak with Donna regarding real estate matters her information is as follows… Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers, 2911 Chapel Hill Rd. Suite 260, Douglasville, GA 30135, 404.843.2500 Office, 678.587.4497 Direct, www.metrobrokers.com/donna.westbrook.

I have known Donna for a couple of years now and her light truly shines everywhere she goes. Thanks for simply being you Donna! Until our next appointed meeting time. Word Wednesday

Today is officially “Word Wednesday” otherwise known as “Hump Day”. We’ve made it half way through yet another week on the wonderful, exciting and bumpy road of motherhood. Therefore, some of us are looking for some encouraging words to make it through the rest of the week with Joy and Peace. Every night before my son goes to bed in addition to reading bible stories; I read him a passage out of “Prayers That Avail Much, First Blessings for Your Child” by Germaine Copeland. Special thanks to Marco and Virginia for blessing us with this book! Mommies we have to keep our kiddies prayed up and constantly put Gods word in their heart.

Yesterday’s passage read, “I thank the Lord that He is with us. There is a time for emotional expression in our lives, and I acknowledge His intervention with joy. I thank God for blessing you my child, with a good sense of humor.” Ecclesiastes 3:4 tells us that there is … “a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,” Emotional expression is an important part of living a healthy life. It seems that in Western culture many of us have been taught to “hide” our emotions. As children our emotional expression was often stifled, which hinders proper emotional growth.

Children need to have the opportunity to display their emotions. Now, I believe everything has to be done with a balance and too much of anything is unhealthy. It’s okay for us to let our boys cry sometimes. Crying is a necessary form of expression that shouldn’t always be suppressed. It’s okay to let our young ladies be comedic because laughter is good for the soul. How dull would our world be if we weren’t allowed to show our emotions?

I know there may be some of you that disagree with my perspective on this subject, but we can’t discount what God had to say about emotional expression. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Let’s teach our children how to properly deal with and express their emotions in a balanced way so that they can grow into emotionally secure adults.

Reflection

Hello and happy Monday to you! Here we are the top of another week in the life of. I hope that each of you had a blessed and beautiful Easter/Resurrection Sunday. I had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful weekend filled with love, reflection and fellowship.

As we reflect on the rising of Jesus Christ, I would also like to reflect on the life of an angel that touched my life in a special way. Some of you may not have read my very first blog entry, but it was dedicated to a woman who inspired me and impacted my life extraordinarily, Delisia Carter. I was blessed to have Delisia and her family in my life for several months before their home going on Easter Sunday of 2009. Delisia, along with her husband, Robert, and their two children, Kayla and Ethan, perished in a fatal hit and run accident last year. They were truly a beauty to behold. They were all so very kind, loving and humble; a wonderful example of a Christian family in every way.

Delisia was the Founder and President of the Eagle Connection, which was created to encourage others to move in purpose. You can learn more about The Eagle Connection by visiting www.theeagleconnection.com. Delisia lived a full and inspiring life. She faced many obstacles and trials, but with her love for God, she came out as a victor, giving God all of the glory! One of Delisia’s favorite scriptures was Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Each of us can use Delisia’s testimony to encourage us to walk in our true calling and win in every area and aspect of our lives. Delisia’s life and story played a major role in the establishment of this ministry. Let’s honor Delisia and her life by stepping out on faith, walking in God’s favor and making a mark that can’t be erased. In the words of the late, great Delisia Carter, “Favor ain’t fair, but it shoal is just!”

Until our next appointed meeting time. Stay tuned for more words of encouragement and inspiration for M.O.M.’s near and far! Good Friday Blessings

Today we celebrate Good Friday, the day that Christ died so that we may live! Wow, isn’t that absolutely amazing; to know that one came before us and suffered an unfathomable death so that we may enjoy an abundant and everlasting life. What a friend we have in Jesus!

As we prepare for the Easter egg hunts, Easter Sunday dinner with the family and Easter church service, let’s not forget the true meaning of this special day. Let’s take time out to give thanks for the sacrifice that was made. Let’s share the good news of the Gospel in Christ Jesus. Let’s meditate on the love that allowed Him to die on that cross for our sins to be washed away.

I get so choked up just thinking about the fact that Jesus came and lived a sinless life, yet He died for my sins. Knowing that I have done nothing on my own that is deserving of such grace and mercy. I don’t want this Sunday to be just another Easter that comes and goes without us really taking time to reflect on its TRUE meaning. Not the eggs, the food or the clothes. I’m talking about the love, the sacrifice and the passion of Christ. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Thursday Prayer

It’s Thursday and you know what that means; today is our designated day of prayer. We will pray together today at 12pm. Also, let’s not forget to keep Haiti and Chile in our prayers in wake of their recent devastation's. In addition to your prayers please donate whatever you can to aid in their time of need.

Our children are always covered by the blood of Jesus, making Godly decisions and living submitted lives.
We all are continually filled with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus.
We are standing with all the mothers attached to this ministry and mothers worldwide that God’s will be done in their lives.
Thank you for standing with us and lifting up the prayer requests that have been laid before us. Remember to thank Him in advance. God bless you!

Scriptural focus for today's prayer meeting: "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands." (Deuteronomy 7:9)
