Start It Up

Happy Monday to all of the blessed and beautiful Saved M.O.M.’s out there. I hope that all of you had great weekends filled with fun and bar-b-que, I know I did! Patiently sitting and looking at the blank computer screen this morning, I asked God to speak through me. When I turned my head, I saw in plain view, written on a DVD case, “Start It Up!”

It’s so often that we sit by and wait for things to happen in our lives instead of going out there and making things happen. What are we really waiting for? I have even been guilty of not making the moves that I wanted to make for lack of direction, fear, or plain out procrastination. When I sit back and think about this hesitation, I realize that sometimes we are just postponing our next level of blessings or breakthrough. For those of us that have allowed fear to come in and keep us from going to that next level, we must be reminded of God’s word concerning fear. The Good Book states, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7). Just think about it for a moment, fear is the opposite of faith. As believers how can we say that we have faith, but then allow fear to hold us back or keep us bound?

This is an issue that I have struggled with for quite sometime. There are moments when the enemy comes in and places fearful thoughts in my mind to throw me off course. In those moments, I simply remind myself of 2 Timothy 1:7. As parents, we witness moments in which our children are fearful, but we must remind them too that the Lord has not given them the spirit of fear. We have to teach them to rebuke fear as soon as it comes their way. We are raising a generation of warriors, but how can they win this battle if they are living in fear?

Back to the other issue at hand… please don’t hesitate any longer. It’s time to “Start It Up!” The Lord may have given you a witty idea or invention. Don’t be afraid and don’t procrastinate anymore. Step out on faith and ask the Lord to guide your steps. When I started Saved M.O.M. I didn’t know what God had in store for it, but I knew that he told me to do it. Let’s continue to hearken unto the voice of the Lord and move into our next level of prosperity and breakthrough!

The Art of Procrastination

Ok, I must admit it, I have a procrastination issue. I am sure that there are other mothers out there that suffer from this painstaking disease! I strive everyday to be the very best me that I can be in the eyes of God; it is my will to please Him daily. As I sat down to write this post I realized that, yet again, I let procrastination get the best of me. My mother and grandmother asked me to book airline tickets for them about two months ago, and guess what? I just got around to booking them last night! Now why would I do something that would ultimately frustrate and irritate my sweet little mother? The good book tells us that we should honor our fathers and mothers. “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12). Please forgive me Mom.

Okay, I can try to make myself feel better by explaining that my reason for waiting was an attempt to find cheaper tickets. Yes, this leads to yet another one of my issues… cheap, cheaper, and cheapest (that’s me). I like to consider myself “fiscally responsible,” but at the end of the day, I am REALLY cheap! The Lord has been slowly showing me that if I continue to tithe and stand on His word that my family and I will always have more than enough. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:10). I don’t have to take 3 months to make a purchase just because I want to get the best price. I don’t have to drive my husband and all of my loved ones insane because I am always looking for the cheapest buy. And I don’t have to miss out on the finer things in life because I am hoarding our money. Now, don’t get me wrong, we must all stay fiscally wise, but we must also enjoy life while we can.

Both of these issues bring me back to the fact that there must be balance in all things. How can we be the examples that our children need to see if we are not displaying the proper behavior. We have to take time everyday to look at the woman in the mirror and take inventory. Let’s make a serious effort to make the necessary changes needed to be molded into His image.
