Word Wednesday

Today is officially “Word Wednesday” otherwise known as “Hump Day.” We’ve made it half way through yet another week on the wonderful, exciting and bumpy road of motherhood. Therefore, some of us are looking for some encouraging words to make it through the rest of the week with Joy and Peace. At night before my son goes to bed, in addition to reading bible stories, I read him a passage out of Prayers That Avail Much, First Blessings for Your Child by Germaine Copeland. Mommies we have to keep our children prayed up and constantly put Gods Word in their hearts.

Yesterday’s passage read, “… I praise God for directing your life. I offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. I thank God for making you a part of His kingdom and helping you to know the importance of being in it.” When I read this passage again this morning I immediately was overcome with joy. I thought about the fact that we all have the opportunity to be a part of God’s kingdom. How awful would it be to know that you have been accepted into His kingdom, but your child hasn’t? I thank God for making us all free will agents to make the choice of having eternal life. It’s not based on what we did or didn’t do. Salvation is openly available to all of us.

It was never God’s intention for us to suffer or to live sub-par lives. He sent Jesus so that we can have salvation and live in abundance. “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). We should teach our children the importance of being a part of God’s kingdom and explain to them just how much of a privilege and honor that it is. I want to take some time today to thank God for accepting this broken vessel into His kingdom. For without His grace and mercy, I surely don’t know where I would be!

In Fact I'm Back!

Hello beautiful people, Saved M.O.M. is back and feeling great! I had a lovely trip to New York with my family. We spent a whole week in The Big Apple fellowshipping with our family and friends. I spent lots of time on 34th Street and enjoyed wonderful shopping and great food.

Why is it that when you go out of town to see family it doesn't seem like much of a vacation? As I reflect back on the trip, I realize that we didn't have much down time and we visited just about every borough! Although, I must admit that I am thankful to have had the opportunity to see our loved ones and to have spent time in the city that never sleeps. I want to give a special thanks to Nan for wonderful accommodations and great food. We love you so very much! Also, thanks to everyone that made this trip mega awesome for us!!!

Well, just a few more days to go before we bring in the New Year. I am claiming that 2010 will be our best year yet filled with many blessings, much love and great memories. On that note I will leave you with one of my favorite scriptures... "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Holiday Wishes

Somehow I still can't believe that Christmas is only a week away and 2010 is only 2 weeks away! I pray that your holiday season is filled with love, peace and many blessings. I am so thankful to all of you for your continued support of this ministry and this blog. It's so wonderful to be surrounded by supporting and loving people.

For the next week I will be taking a break to spend time with my family and loved ones. I will continue to lift each of you in prayer and trust that God will keep you by His grace and mercy. Please feel free to take this time to look at previously posted blogs and comment as you feel led. I love receiving your feedback and words of encouragement :-)

With the New Year quickly approaching lets take some time to reflect on 2009 and make a decision to go to a higher level in 2010. I realize that there are some things that I need to improve and definitely do differently next year, how about you? It is my desire to constantly improve myself and to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. For the Word tells us, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18). Happy Holidays to you and God Bless!

Thursday Prayer

It’s Thursday and you know what that means; today is our designated day of prayer. We will pray together today at 12 pm. If you are not able to physically make it to the prayer meeting location you can join us in spirit. We have not received any specific prayer requests for this week. Although, we will pray that God’s will is done in the lives of his faithful servants and pray protection and covering for all of the members of the armed forces, all of our leaders, and the less fortunate. I also want us to pray that we fully release the power that God has already given us according to Acts 1:8 and that the Sprit of God within us will flow through us in greater measure. In addition, I am praying that millions of mothers will be touched by this ministry and great works will be done through this ministry. We will continue to stand on our weekly prayer points listed below. It is so important that we stand together in prayer, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20).

Pastor Joyce Meyer (www.joycemeyer.org) has proclaimed that we have a Love Revolution! I am standing with her and continuing to pray that love is the motivating force behind EVERYTHING that we do. Therefore, I want to pray that we operate in love at ALL times, especially when we don’t feel like it. For the word tells us, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8). The word also says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). If we can just learn to love always, no matter what, things will turn out well and happiness will be sure to follow.

Weekly prayer points are as follows…
We are praying that our family, friends and loved ones receive salvation and live lives that are submitted to the Lord.
We are praying that we maintain health and strength in the midst of it all.
We are praying that our children are always covered by the blood of Jesus and they make Godly decisions and live submitted lives.
We are also standing with all the mothers attached to this ministry and mothers worldwide that God’s will be done in their lives.
Thank you for standing with us and lifting up the prayer requests that have been laid before us. Remember to thank Him in advance. God bless you!

Mommies we have to keep our children prayed up and constantly put Gods Word in their hearts.

Yesterday’s passage read, “I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you, (your child’s name), with much joy and peace while you trust in Him. Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit. I thank Father God for His Son, born to us for our salvation.” As we all know, on next Friday we will celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Words cannot even begin to express how thankful and blessed I feel to know that Jesus died so that we can live. As the passage above states, “…His Son, born to us for our salvation.” Jesus became sin so that we could live for all of eternity and enjoy a blessed and abundant life. He became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God. “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

At this time of the year people are constantly saying, “Don’t forget the reason for the season.” Although, many people still seem to get caught up in the gifts, decorations, shopping, food, and partying. As parents, it is our duty to make sure that our children understand the TRUE meaning of Christmas. We must also do our part to share the love of Jesus with those that have not yet received salvation. Will you all stand with Saved M.O.M. this Christmas and share the love of Jesus with someone in an effort to lead them into the eternal and abundant life that we have?

The Art of Compromise

Good day to all! Is it me or do the weekends go by like a flash of lightening? So, here we are blessed with another Monday in the life of a Saved M.O.M. I’m sure that I am not the only one that endured the adventure of holiday shopping over the weekend.

Well, as most of my faithful readers know, I am super budget conscious. I like to refer to myself as fiscally responsible although, my husband calls me cheap! I was recently faced with a situation regarding a Christmas gift that was requested of me to purchase. My husband approached me several weeks ago and told me what he wanted for Christmas and it was actually triple the cost of what I had planned on spending for his Christmas gift! The more I thought about the cost, the more agitated I became. Then, I sat back and thought to myself, “Self, your husband is always more than willing to do whatever he needs to do to make sure that you are able to pursue all of your dreams and have your daily desires and needs met. So how could you begrudge him this one thing?” Then I immediately started thinking of ways that I could compromise and come up with a way to please both parties involved.

I asked my husband if he would be willing to meet me half way on the cost by selling a few of his other “toys” and apply that money to his gift. He was more than willing to oblige and the problem was solved! Just that simple, one little conversation alleviated all of the ruckus that I had created about this one gift. How simple was that? Instead, of harping on the issues that arise in our relationships, we should just step outside of our little boxes and consider “the art of compromise.” We must use wisdom in all things and always make an effort to be considerate, loving and kind. “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17). What are you going to compromise on today?

Mommies we have to keep our children prayed up and constantly put Gods Word in their hearts.

Yesterday’s passage read, “I pray that you will be clothed in kindness. As an imitator of Christ, you will be gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abundant to kindness.” The portion of this passage that really stood out to me was “you will be gracious and merciful, slow to anger…” This led me to think about a conversation that I had with one of my loved one’s on yesterday. This is person is a man of God and he is making a very sincere effort to seek God and do His will. Well, he recently had to deal with a “road rage” situation that he didn’t handle very well. To make a long story short, his actions did not fall in line with the word of God. You see, there are eyes constantly watching us. Our daily walk and how we react to situations and circumstances should be examples to our non-Christian counterparts of God’s love and kindness. For the word tells us, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” (Matthew 5:13) Furthermore, God is always watching us and we should strive to do things that are pleasing in His eyes.

As parents, our children look up to us and see our actions on a consistent basis. Therefore, we should make every effort to be in a constant state of self-improvement. We all have moments in which we get extremely upset or frustrated, but we must control our emotions and handle these moments according to what God’s word says. We must not be driven by our emotions, but we must take the wheel of life and steer ourselves in the way of the Lord!

The Friendship Blessing

Happy Monday beautiful people! Well, the weekend has come to an end and a new week has just begun. Here we are with a whole week of possibilities ahead of us. Praise God for the new things, for the best is yet to come!

As I sit at the computer I hear BeBe Winans singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmans” on the radio. There is a portion of the song that says, “Faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more.” This line made me think of all the wonderful friends that God has blessed me with. For so many years I struggled to maintain healthy and wholesome friendships. It seemed as though I tried any and everything to make people like me, but I always seemed to be hurt or disappointed by these people.

Through the years I knew that I could always depend on God and my mother to be there. Although, I wanted to have friends in my peer group that I could count on to be there for me and truly be able to depend on them no matter what. For years and years I prayed that God would send me true and lasting friendships and now I can say that this prayer has been answered. I believe that in the midst of broken friendships God wanted me to see that I didn’t need a person to validate me and that I could always find comfort in Him.

It’s amazing how God will always send you what you need just when you need it. I have a new found friend that is a close neighbor. She called me a couple of days ago to let me know that she had some things that she wanted to give to my son. I went over on last evening to pick up the items and the timing couldn’t have been better for the things that she gave us! I truly appreciate her giving nature and all of the wonderful ways that my closest friends have blessed me over time.

Let’s not take our friendships for granted. I think we should all contact our closest friends today just to let them know how much we love and appreciate them. We all have had moments of discontent in which we needed our friends to be there for us, and they were. “A despairing man should have the devotion of his friends, even though he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.” (Job 6:14). Let’s take a few moments to show them that their acts didn’t go overlooked.

Feature Friday

Congratulations, you made it through another week in the life of a Saved M.O.M.! Here at Savedmom.com we take time out on Fridays to feature Saved M.O.M.’s. There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. I am proud to say that this week’s Feature Friday is dedicated to Bonita. She currently resides in Douglasville, GA. Bonita is the mother of a beautiful teen daughter and she is an amazing and anointed vocalist.

Bonita came to know the Lord at an early age. She recalled, “My mom used to send my siblings and I to church before she became a Christian when I was 9 yrs old and then she started TAKING us to church. She wanted all 4 of her children to know the joy of Jesus that she had found and so at 13 yrs old, I accepted Jesus into my heart.” Bonita went on to explain, “Although I was different from my friends, they respected the God that was in me. I realized at an early age that having God in my life was the wisest decision that I would ever make in my life.” Amen to that!

When asked what being a Saved M.O.M. means to her Bonita stated, “It means that I don't have to know it ALL. I just have to know the ONE who does.” Having a teen daughter can be a bit daunting at times. Bonita explained, “Having a teenage daughter can be challenging and rewarding all in the same day. Sometimes I sit and just listen to her. My heart is filled with joy to know that the biblical principles that she has been taught throughout her young life are being applied in her daily walk with God.” Bonita had the following words of wisdom to share in regards to motherhood, “You never know as a Saved M.O.M. if you are getting it quite right. And then in those priceless moments, God will give you a sweet confirmation that He is guiding you the whole way.”

Bonita’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” She wanted to leave our readers with these words, “Utilize the greatest resource out there for Saved M.O.M.’s…The Wisdom and Guidance of God.

Bonita has a voice that you must hear! You can see her live at The Encounter Concert~ This Saturday, Dec 5th @ 6pm~ Celebrating the Arts through Worship & Praise. You can purchase tickets online at www.bonitasings.com for just $10. All Saved M.O.M.’s can purchase tickets at the door for $10 as well (instead of $15). If you are not in the Atlanta area or you can’t make it to tomorrow’s event please visit www.bonitasings.com to check out her upcoming events. I’m telling you her voice is absolutely amazing!

Yesterday’s passage read, “I thank our heavenly Father for loving you so much that He gave you Jesus. Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.” It’s so comforting to know that we have Jesus always standing in the gap for us. I can’t even begin to imagine what life would be like if He weren’t available to us. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

As we all know, we often sin and fall short of God’s glory. Although, I have come to a recent realization, that is propelling me to do things a little differently. When I really sit back and think on the goodness of the God and the ultimate sacrifice that He made in giving His only begotten son for us, I must make an even greater effort to live more righteously. Just think about it this way, if you made the sacrifice of giving the life of your child for me to be forgiven of all of my sins and I continued to do sinful things even when I knew I shouldn’t, how would you feel? That’s the way we have to see the sacrifice that was made on the cross for each and everyone of us.

Of course, I know that we are all human and we will all make mistakes and fall short. The thing is, we have to learn from our mistakes and not commit the same sins over and over again. We wouldn’t be very happy if we scolded our children for doing something wrong and they never stopped doing that thing, now would we? As parents, we can have some understanding of what was given so that we can have everlasting life, so let’s not take it lightly. What changes will you make today to honor that sacrifice that was made for you through Christ Jesus?

Hello beautiful people! So the holiday weekend is over and it’s back to business as usual. I can’t believe it’s almost 2010! It’s amazing to see time fly right before our very eyes. It seems like yesterday that I was graduating from high school, with the whole world as my oyster. It appears as though every year passes by a little faster than the one before. For the good book says, “for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow." (Job 8:9).

As I sat down at the computer this morning and sought God about the topic of choice for today, I heard, “Have the faith to endure.” There are so many challenges and trials that have come and will continue to come our way. Although, we must always trust and believe that the Lord will bring us out as long as we keep the faith and faint not. In the moments that I feel weak or compromised in my spirit I have to go back to Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Yes, I know from experience, that sometimes having the faith to endure is easier said than done. This is when you have to step out of the “normal routine” and seek God and the things of God like never before. Sometimes you may have to seek the prayers of the intercessors. Sometimes you may have to fast and go before His throne with a sincere heart. Sometimes you have to shut out the things of this world and just spend time with Him and in His presence. Turn off the television, the radio, the phone, and all of the other distractions and bask in the presence of the Lord.

I am going to start off the last month of this year seeking God in a whole new way and on a whole new level. I must have the faith to endure so that I can fulfill Gods good and perfect will for my life. It’s time out for falling victim to the tricks of the enemy and time in for falling in line with the will of the Lord! Let’s make this last month of the year count and watch the blessing of 2010 engulf us!

Holiday Jewlery Specials

I just wanted to take a few moments to tell you about great holiday jewlery specials. For those of you that are looking to buy great quality, high-end jewlery this holiday season look no more! Check out the John Hardy Jewlery Collection by clicking on... "John Hardy ". They have the whole family covered, including something for the kiddies as well.

To share a little information about John Hardy and his collection...

John Hardy is the original Green Designer, creating "sustainable luxury" since 1989. Him and his wife Cynthia work side by side creating an international luxury brand of designer jewelry. Now you all know that I am a lover of both "going green" and family businesses and this is a great combination of both!

In 1997, John and Cynthia acquired a hectare of land at the edge of some rice fields not far from their home in central Bali, for a workshop for their rapidly expanding business. The Hardys were concerned about converting food-producing land, so the design studio and workshop campus is also an organic farm, complete with livestock—cows, goats, poultry, rabbits—and fish ponds. The paths are paved with river stones and lined with tall sugar cane. Heirloom Bali rice grows in paddy fields outside the glass walls of the design center. The food grown here is used to provide the employees (over 700 people) with a healthy lunch. The buildings a low-impact structures built of natural local materials such as bamboo, thatch, adobe, and river stones.

I love the opportunity to support a green business and a family owned business all at the same time! Feature Friday

Congratulations, you made it through another week in the life of a Saved M.O.M.! Here at Savedmom.com we take time out on Fridays to feature Saved M.O.M.’s . There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. I am proud to say that this week’s Feature Friday is dedicated to Janyne E. Collins. She currently resides in Kennesaw, GA. Janyne is a mother and a passionate woman of God whom has dedicated her life to helping single mothers.

Janyne received salvation at the age of 21. She recalled, “I was 21 yrs. old and pregnant with my son. My son’s Godmother, my best friend, invited me to study the bible. Five months later I made Jesus Lord of my life.” When asked what being a Saved M.O.M. means to her Janyne explained, “…I am the mother and the father. My son looks to me to be the very best. He counts on me to be an example to him. He counts on me to teach him responsibility. He counts on me to teach him how to love unconditionally. He counts on me to be the God fearing, God loving woman that God calls me to be. He depends on me to support him through his achievements. He depends on me to love him through his mistakes. He counts on me to praise him, to encourage him, to discipline him and love him through it all. Being saved and a single mom means that I need to be all that I can be to help him grow and be a great awesome man for GOD!”

Janyne currently stands on 1 Corinthians 13. She knows that through love and faith we will be led to do great things. Janyne wanted to leave our mothers with these words, “Be the best example you can be for your child.” She recently started Struggling Single Moms, Inc. to help meet the needs of single mothers. To get more information, learn about her community outreach or to donate to her ministry please visit www.helpstrugglingsinglemoms.com. Her first outreach event will be held this Sunday, November 22nd from 3-8 pm. It is the Single Mom's First Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner location is 6208 Memorial Dr Stone Mountain, GA 30038.

Thursday Prayer

It’s Thursday and you know what that means; today is our designated day of prayer. We will pray together today at 12 pm. If you are not able to physically make it to the prayer meeting location you can join us in spirit. We are continuing to pray for Cheree’s healing, faith and strength. We are praying that the Sullivan family has the favor of the Lord fall upon them like never before. We are also praying for all marriages. There has been such an attack on marriages lately and I would like for us to stand together and pray that spouses can come together and fulfill God’s purpose for His sacred and special marriage covenant. In addition, I am praying that millions of mothers will be touched by this ministry and great works will be done through this ministry. We will pray that God’s will is done in each of these situations. We will also continue to stand on our weekly prayer points listed below. It is so important that we stand together in prayer, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20).

Love should be the motivating force behind EVERYTHING that we do. Therefore, I also want to continue to pray that we operate in love at ALL times, especially when we don’t feel like it. For the word tells us, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8). The word also says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). If we can just learn to love always, no matter what, things will always turn out well and happiness will be sure to follow.

Interruption

Good morning to each and every one of you! Today I am interrupting our regularly scheduled blog post. We will resume Word Wednesday as scheduled on next week.

I am currently volunteering with Future Foundation for their Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Program. There are so many families here in Georgia that go without food everyday. As a matter of fact, Georgia is one of the top eleven states in prevalence of food insecurity in America. We all know that Thanksgiving is a time that we look forward to for fellowship and breaking bread with our friends and family. Well, for some families this is not their reality. Along with so many other charitable and non-profit organizations, Future Foundation takes time out during the holiday season to prepare and deliver meals to families in need.

I would like to raise enough money to provide meals to several of these families and I need your help. The Lord has commissioned us to help our fellow man in times of need and lack. “'If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you.” (Leviticus 25:35). If you will stand with me in this effort and are wiling to donate to this cause please send me an email at info@savedmom.com, to make payment arrangements. Our deadline for donations is Monday, November 23rd and no amount is too small. For we all know what Jesus did with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread; he fed five thousand (Mathew 14: 13-21)!

If you would like to learn more about Future Foundation and what they are doing you can visit their website at www.future-foundation.com. Thanks for your continued support! Saved M.O.M. has so much to do and this is only the beginning. May the grace of God keep you, the love of God enfold you, and the power of God protect you!

Something in the Atmosphere

I pray that each and every one of you had something awesome happen to you over the weekend! As I sit here at the computer, there are so many thoughts going through my mind. I sense that there is a shifting about to take place in the atmosphere for some reason. Does anyone else feel the same?

It seems as though there is something great on the horizon, if we can just hold on a little while longer. It’s time for us to start doing things on a level that we haven’t before. Let’s elevate our minds, our spirits, our bodies, and our hearts. My pastor has been speaking on the following phrase for a few weeks now… “When is the last time you did something for the first time?” You see, the magnitude of this question didn’t hit me until about 30 seconds ago. So, I am seriously asking myself, “Shonte’, when is the last time you did something for the first time?” Now, I don’t mean something simple, like preparing a meal that you never cooked before, but something that can really make a difference in your life or in the lives of those around you.

Life is too short for us to just sit back and let life happen to us, how about we happen to the lives around us? God has planted something special on the inside of each and every one of us. We all have something great to offer. That special gift or talent that you have is there to bring glory to God and His Kingdom. How are you using your gifts and talents? Although, our gifts are different, they are all from the same spirit. For the word explains, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

I am making a decision to start off everyday asking myself, “Self, what can I do for the first time today?” In other words, I want to think of new ways to please God and be a blessing to those around me. It’s time to elevate ourselves like never before. It’s time to reach higher, think better and make a mark that can’t be erased!

Monday’s passage read, “Precious one, you are most blessed. Wherever you walk, God’s Word will guide you; whenever you rest, it will guard you.” As children of The Most High God, we are so blessed to have His Word to lead and guide us. Whenever we feel lost or confused we can always find comfort in knowing that the Holy Bible has all of the answers.

It’s amazing that most of us find time for EVERYTHING else except for time to spend in His Word. When I say time, I am not talking about 5 or 10 minutes, I mean really spending time reading, studying and meditating on His Word until it becomes apart of us. I am certainly guilty of not always putting in the Word time that I should. I can definitely tell when I haven’t been in my Word the way that I should by how I feel. When things start to go a little haywire in my life I know that it’s time to get back on track with my Word life. For we find completeness in God’s Word, “But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:” (1 John 2:5).

It’s time to take our Word life to another level if we truly want to grow as Christian’s and walk in a higher level of anointing and power. Maybe that means less time in front of the television, less time on the phone, less time going out and/or less time on Facebook. Let’s be true examples of what God has appointed us to be. Let’s guide our children by reading, studying and meditating on God’s Word with them. Let’s make a better effort today to take our lives to the next level in every way possible!

Birthday Blessings

Here we are again blessed with another Monday that’s sure to be filled with love, happiness and awesomeness!!! I had such a wonderful weekend celebrating my sons’ birthday. I missed you all on Thursday and Friday, but we all know how hectic it can be planning an event in addition to all of our other duties and obligations.

Last week I sat back and wondered how in the world the party grew to 50 people so quickly. I started to spaz out for a few moments, then I pulled myself up by the bootstraps, rolled my sleeves up and went to work. The party was amazing and it seems as though everyone enjoyed the fellowship, fun and food. I know I surely did! This morning I am reflecting on how much of a blessing it is to have so many wonderful people surrounding and supporting us. I don’t know that I could have pulled it off without the help of my amazing friends and family.

I must take a few moments in this post to give special thanks to my hubby, my mother, my father, my dad, my mother-in-law, my grandmother, my sister and her best friend, my best friends Rasheedah and Christina, Simone, Hilary, cousin Brandon and all others that contributed in any way! Thanks guys for making this one of the best birthday parties ever! I thank God for the favor and blessings that I receive on a daily basis. I am a firm believer that we should always be willing to help our fellow man and do good unto all. For the word tells us, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:10).

I am not taking the blessings of the support and love of my family and friends for granted. Instead I am going to take the acts of selflessness and kindness that they displayed over the weekend and pay it forward. Please join me in paying forward all the wonderful things that come your way and watch your life be blessed in a special way!

Monday’s passage read, “I ask our holy Father to guard you as you pursue His life that He conferred as a gift through Jesus. I thank Him for posting a night watch about you this evening.” I am so thankful that God sent Jesus so that we may have everlasting and abundant life. I realize that as a Christian mother it is my duty to make sure that my children understand that they were bought at a price. They must understand that we are living temples of the Holy Spirit and we belong to God. For the word tells us, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price…” (1 Corinthians 6:20). On the day that I gave my life to the Lord I made a choice to live for God and to let His word direct my path. At that moment I made a decision to stop letting my flesh rule me and instead to let the Holy Spirit lead and guide me the rest of the way.

Salvation is truly serious business and it is not to be looked upon lightly. As parents we have to make every effort to teach our children the importance of salvation because there will come a point in time that they must willingly choose salvation for themselves. I wish that I could ask the Lord to give my son salvation for the rest of his life and that be the end of it, but it doesn’t work that way. We are born with free will and salvation is available to all of us, but we must ask for it. God never intended for us to suffer but to have abundant life. “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). So let's continue to rise above our fleshly ways and desires and let the Holy Spirit within us prevail in all that we do.

Who’s Watching

Good day to all! I am so thankful to see another beautiful day with my health and strength in tact. I am even more thankful to know that the Lord is keeping and covering my family. We have so much to praise Him for! I hope that each of you had a blessed, wonderful and fulfilling weekend.

On yesterday, I went to visit my mother and when I turned onto her street I saw my sister outside talking with some of her friends. They immediately ran to my car and started to compliment me on my outfit and volunteered to come help set up at my sons birthday party next weekend. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but this morning I thought to myself, “Those girls really do look up to me.”

This led me to think about all of the little and not so little eyes that are watching us on a daily basis. Not only are our children looking up to us, but we are role models and examples for so many other people and we don’t even realize it. That’s why it is so important that we “walk right” and live according to God’s plan and purpose everyday of our lives. “In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,” (Ephesians 1:11). I will be the first to say that I am not perfect, but I am definitely striving to be more like Jesus everyday. I do fall short at times, but I have to make every effort to be the example that God has called me to be.

Soon after getting married a friend and I were having a debate on the subject of Christians going to the club. I can’t speak for everyone, but I can certainly speak for myself in saying that the club is not a good atmosphere for me. I absolutely LOVE to dance and would love to go to the club with my husband just to dance with him all night, but that wouldn’t be very wise. The club is filled with so many sinful things such as; drugs, lust and alcohol. So how bright can my light really shine if I am in such a dark place? Also, you never know who’s watching you at any given moment. Let’s think about this for a minute… would it be very good witness for Saved M.O.M. to be gyrating in the club, even if it is on my husband? I think not.

No matter where you are or what you are doing, just remember that there are ALWAYS eyes watching you. What kind of example are you setting for those eyes to see? More importantly, God is always watching you, even when no one else is.

There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. I am proud to say that this week’s Feature Friday is dedicated to Cree Davis. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA. Cree is an awesome and beautiful wife, mother of two, philanthropist and entrepreneur.

When I asked Cree how she came to know the Lord she shared, “I began my personal relationship with the Lord the night I found out my father was shot and killed. My grandfather was a firefighter; he had a scanner in the house, so he would be informed right away if any emergencies occurred. The night of my father’s death my grandfathers scanner started to speak of a man that was just shot to death and my mother heard my father’s name, Roy Stanford.” As you can imagine this news was devastating to the entire family. Cree went on to explain, “My mother became very ill. As my family prepped to tell me what was going on, though I was only twelve, I could already sense something very bad in the pit of my stomach, my heart started to hurt and I couldn’t swallow. When I heard the words, “Your father was killed”, I began to weep. I was totally a daddy’s girl. I went into the room where my bed was and knelt down to pray. I didn’t really know what to say or how to pray at this point, but I knew I had to figure it out. I needed God right away. I began to pray a sincere childlike prayer to God asking why this happened to me and to help. I remember the pain in my heart disappearing; I felt better. I remember getting up from the floor and I was no longer thinking about myself, but my mother.” This was Cree’s first personal experience with God and it gave her a peace like never before. This experience allowed her to understand death at a very early age. Cree said, “God also spoke to me and said, “It’s ok to miss your earthly father, but no worries my daughter, I am your heavenly father and I will never leave you, I will be with you forever”. I am now God’s “Daddy’s Girl”…”

During our interview Cree shared what being a Saved M.O.M. means to her, she shared, “[It] has been such a blessing. This organization [Saved M.O.M.] has allowed me to not be so engulfed in my personal family life to the point I forget to pray and send love out for other mothers that do not have the energy/strength to pray for themselves and their families. In our prayer meetings we pray for each other, mothers that are in attendance, mothers that send in prayer request and for all mothers in our country.” She went on to say, “Since joining Saved M. O. M., my passion to step outside of my situations into other mothers situations has grown immensely. Out of my love and passion to pray and help other mothers God has been doing marvelous things for my family. Thank you Saved M.O.M. for being bold and on fire for God…never watered down!”

Cree’s favorite scripture is, “God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:16. She wanted to share these words of encouragement with our mothers…”Ask God for a deep love and passion to pray for other mothers. You never know what another mother is going through and she may not have the energy to pray her herself. It will also show you that you are not alone in your daily struggles as a mother and your situation may not be as bad as you think.

Cree is a full time stay-at-home mom, Founder of Big Sis Lil Sis Inc. www.bigsislilsisinc.org, President of Mocha Moms of South Fulton www.mochamomsofsouthfulton.org and CEO of Sheek Furniture www.sheekfurniture.com. Feel free to check out this busy woman of God and join her in her efforts via the aforementioned sites. Her quote for today is… “I am a work in progress… God is creating a masterpiece in me!”

Sunday’s passage read, “I pray that you will trust in the Lord and be unmoved by any circumstance.” This is a very short passage, but it packs a lot of power. I certainly don’t want to be a fair weather Christian that caves in anytime a trial comes my way and I definitely don’t want to raise children that are that way either. As believers, we have to stand strong on God’s word and walk in faith no matter what. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7). It’s easy to let circumstances and situations throw us off track, but those are the times that we need to let our faith guide us through.

I still have moments in which I get frustrated and irritated, but I have to soon remind myself that I am a child of God and activate my faith instead of being led by my frustration. This also allows me the opportunity to show my child the proper way to get through in those moments. Lets always trust in the Lord and be unmoved by ANY circumstance.

Take Time for You

Good day to all!!! So here we are at the top of another week in the exciting world of motherhood. Well, as I sat down in font of my laptop this morning, I prayed to God regarding the topic of bloggersation for today, then God said, “Tell mommies to take a little time for self.” Boy, did this resonate in my spirit!

As mothers we often do things to keep everything and everyone else in order, but what about us? We take care of the house, we take care of the kids, we take care of our families, we take care of business, but when do we take care of ourselves? I can recall a conversation that I had with my cousin several years back. She was telling me about some health problems that she had been experiencing. In the midst of her describing her pains and ailments, I asked her when she had last been to see her primary care physician for a physical. Can you believe she couldn’t even remember? She said, “I’m always so busy making sure the kids are on schedule with their appointments that I forget to stay on top of my appointments.” Unfortunately, this is a reoccurring story for many mothers out there.

Yes, we should definitely be there for our families, but we have to take care of ourselves too. Most of us have experienced being on an airplane as the stewardess goes through the emergency safety protocol. They always tell us to secure our oxygen masks first before helping others. There’s a reason that they explain the protocol that way. How can we help anyone else if our “oxygen mask” isn’t safely secured? This analogy plays out in “real life” as well. We must be sure that we are taking care of ourselves spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally so that we can have the strength and energy to take care of all else.

This means that we all need “MOMMIE TIME” and we need it often. It could be a 15 minute relaxing bubble bath, an evening out with the girls, quiet meditation time, a massage at the local spa, or whatever helps you have a few moments to rest and relax. Don’t feel bad about taking time for you. Even God Himself took time to rest. The word tells us, “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” (Genesis 2:2).

On Saturday, I enjoyed a wonderful day with my mother and my sister. It’s funny when I think back on how the outing began. My mother came by to pick me up and wanted to know why my son wasn’t joining us. I told her that since we were going to be out all day I didn’t want him to miss out on his nap because he would get cranky. Although, I just realized I really just wanted some mommie time without any kids around, and that’s okay. When is the last time that you took a rest break?

Feature Friday

Congratulations, you made it through another week in the life of a Saved M.O.M.! Here at Savedmom.com we take time out on Fridays to feature Saved M.O.M.’s near and far. There are so many wonderful mothers that don’t get the recognition they deserve. I am proud to say that this week’s Feature Friday is dedicated to Tierra Destiny Reid. She currently resides in Stone Mountain, GA. Tierra is a vibrant, beautiful and talented military wife, mother of two and entrepreneur fashionista.

Tierra gave her life to the Lord at a very early age. She recalled, “As a young girl I was raised loving the Lord! My mother was a single parent for a long time and she couldn’t drive for a while and I remember riding the bus to make it to church!” Tierra recommitted her life to the Lord after graduating from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!!!). Her relationship with God has grown stronger throughout the years. She explained, “God and I have a very strong relationship and I am grateful for the ability to hear Him so clearly whenever I need His guidance.”

When I asked Tierra what being a Saved M.O.M. means to her she said, “It means incorporating God in everything that I do! It also means making sacrifices today that my children will not have to make tomorrow.” The scriptures that she stands on time and time again are Philippians 4:13 and Psalms 27:14. She said, “[These scriptures] have proven to be true over and over again in my life.”

Tierra wanted to leave our mothers with these words… “When you make things about God, your life, your decisions and even your thoughts…He rejoices and therefore will give you the strength and love you need to overcome and achieve anything your heart desires! I am constantly learning and growing and I feel his arms squeezing me so tight right now! It feels so good to have his confirmation and love.” Tierra recently stepped out on faith and opened her boutique, Stylish Consignments. She said, “Stepping out on faith feels better than I imagined and leaves me speechless at times. So many doors are already open, just waiting for us to walk through them. Sometimes people focus on the doors that are closed and wait to say, "When one door closes another one opens…" Well I have found it to be true, several doors are there just waiting for you to take the first step inside.”

Tierra has always had a knack and love for fashion and will be celebrating the grand opening of her boutique this weekend just outside of Atlanta, GA. She explained, “Resale industry was inspired by my natural love for fashion and my mother’s gift to always find an impeccable deal!” Learn more about her and the business at www.stylishconsignments.com. The grand opening will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 10 am-4 pm at 5514 Lawrenceville Hwy, Suite E, Lilburn, GA, 30047. Tierra’s favorite quote is, “If not you then who if not now then when. She explained, “I actually wrote this quote on my mirror when I decided not to work for anyone else until I gave myself a shot. It inspires me.”

Thursday Prayer

It’s Thursday and you know what that means; today is our designated day of prayer. We will pray together today at 6:30 pm. If you are not able to physically make it to the prayer meeting location you can join us in spirit. We have received a few prayer requests for this week. We have a mother that has been diagnosed with advanced stages of breast cancer and we will pray for her healing. We also have another mother that would like for us to pray for her to get back in shape and for the renewal of her strength. In addition, I am praying that millions of mothers will be touched by this ministry and great works will be done through it.

So I also want to continue to pray that we operate in love at ALL times, especially when we don’t feel like it.

Yesterday’s passage read, “May you be quick to hear, and slow to speak and slow to become angry.” Most of us have heard someone say, “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” Through the years I have had to learn to practice this rule more and more. We must realize that words have a lot of power and once we release them into the atmosphere we can’t take them back. The word tells us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21). We have to be prepared to eat the fruit that we release from our mouths.

I can remember saying this in my youth, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Boy was that a big lie! I allowed words to hurt me many times in my life and through that I learned that I should ALWAYS think before speaking. We have all said things that we wished we could have taken back, but couldn’t. Over time I have realized the importance of thinking before speaking and to not allow anger to overtake me. Now that I understand these important principles, I will be sure to teach them to my children.

As parents we should use the lessons that we have learned in our lives help us lead our children in the right direction. We don’t want them to make the same mistakes that we have made. Of course, there are some things that they will have to learn through experience, but we can certainly use our experiences to advise them and direct their paths.
