Today is officially “Word Wednesday” otherwise known as “Hump Day.” We’ve made it half way through yet another week on the wonderful, exciting and bumpy road of motherhood. Therefore, some of us are looking for some encouraging words to make it through the rest of the week with Joy and Peace. At night before my son goes to bed, in addition to reading bible stories, I read him a passage out of Prayers That Avail Much, First Blessings for Your Child by Germaine Copeland. Mommies we have to keep our children prayed up and constantly put Gods Word in their hearts.
Yesterday’s passage read, “I thank our heavenly Father for loving you so much that He gave you Jesus. Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.” It’s so comforting to know that we have Jesus always standing in the gap for us. I can’t even begin to imagine what life would be like if He weren’t available to us. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
As we all know, we often sin and fall short of God’s glory. Although, I have come to a recent realization, that is propelling me to do things a little differently. When I really sit back and think on the goodness of the God and the ultimate sacrifice that He made in giving His only begotten son for us, I must make an even greater effort to live more righteously. Just think about it this way, if you made the sacrifice of giving the life of your child for me to be forgiven of all of my sins and I continued to do sinful things even when I knew I shouldn’t, how would you feel? That’s the way we have to see the sacrifice that was made on the cross for each and everyone of us.
Of course, I know that we are all human and we will all make mistakes and fall short. The thing is, we have to learn from our mistakes and not commit the same sins over and over again. We wouldn’t be very happy if we scolded our children for doing something wrong and they never stopped doing that thing, now would we? As parents, we can have some understanding of what was given so that we can have everlasting life, so let’s not take it lightly. What changes will you make today to honor that sacrifice that was made for you through Christ Jesus?
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for more words of encouragement and inspiration for M.O.M.’s near and far!
