Yesterdays passages read, “May God bless you to apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.” and “I pray that you will have a heart to commit to the Lord whatever you do, and then your plans will succeed.” Both of these passages were inspired by scriptures from the book of Proverbs. Proverbs provides us with practical advice for everyday living. Reading Proverbs to your children will provide them with sensible and Godly wisdom that they will need to carry them into successful and blessed lives.
As mothers we need to guide our children to apply their hearts to instruction and their ears to the words of knowledge. There is an order to everything; therefore, our kids must understand the importance of following instruction in all that they do. In addition, we must teach them to be sensitive to hearing words of knowledge. We do so by showing them how to sift through the nonsense that they will be approached with as they operate in this sinful world. Moving on to the second passage we should constantly pray that they have the heart to commit to the Lord. We need to prepare them at an early age to do this so that when they grow older they will have a committed relationship to God in which their steps can be ordered to do great things. “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12). As often as you can please expose your children to the teachings of Proverbs as to prepare them to walk in God’s blessings and favor.
