Testimony Tuesday

Today is Testimony Tuesday and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share a mother’s testimony with you. Please feel free to share your testimony with us at anytime. To submit your testimony, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “submit” button or leave a comment with a contact email address below. Enjoy this heart filled story about the way in which God answered a mother’s prayer.

This testimony was submitted by Kenya Hawkins. She is a loving, kind and vibrant woman of God. She makes being a Stay at Home Mom look sweat less and I know for a fact that it is not! She actually enjoys working out, cooking, and cleaning. She stated, “Okay, now I know you may be thinking these are things most women complain about doing… but I like to think that because I enjoy doing these things makes me a unique individual.”

Kenya has a two year old son and his name is Kristopher. He was born premature, at 2 pounds 6 ounces and 13 1/2 inches. Kenya was 27.5 weeks into her pregnancy when she was diagnosed with Preeclampsia. Her blood pressure was 160/153 and she had all the signs and symptoms of Preeclampsia (Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension). It’s also referred to as Toxemia. This condition can stem from high blood pressure during pregnancy. While no one knows exactly what causes PIH or why it develops most often in first-time moms-to-be, some research links it to poor nutrition. Studies suggest tiny doses of aspirin or large doses of calcium may reduce the risk. Some of the signs and symptoms are: swelling of the hands and face with sudden excessive weight gain (both related to water retention); high blood pressure (140/90 or more in a woman who has never before had high blood pressure); and protein in the urine. Kenya explained, “Kristopher was born on December 18, 2006 and I did not get to hold him until January 18, 2007. Kris was in neonatal intensive care unit and the only contact I with him was stroking my finger on his little arms and legs. Yes ladies, a whole month went by before I got to hold my son for the first time and then Kris stayed in the hospital for two more months before he was able to come home.” Kris came home on March 12, 2007. He was taking five different medications and on a machine that monitored his breathing. Almost two and a half years later, with Gods blessings, Kristopher is healthy and does not have any development issues. He can identify the alphabets and numbers 1-10. Kenya exclaimed, “He is speaking more and more each day and I am loving it. A day does not go by without me giving thanks to God for my lovely son, he's great.”

Praise be to God for such an awesome testimony of His loving-kindness! Be sure to tune in tomorrow for more words of encouragement and inspiration for M.O.M.’s near and far!
